I'm still in love with leather...

Right, so, although sheepskin may reign supreme as this seasons fabric of choice for the casual jacket, I am delighted that leather is still EVERYWHERE ... Leather skirts in the new midi length, leather dresses with floral embroidery detail a la Christopher Kane, not to mention leather trouser in a variety of cuts from Isabel Marant's red Soan cropped biker pant to Bottega Venata's slouched harem style. What I love about leather is that it can be worn for any occasion to dress up or down this seasons key trends. From 1950's demure lady to camel a little leather will never go astray. So I've chosen five key leather pieces that I'm coveting to curb my leather cravings.. for the moment anyway!

Shorts are everywhere this season, they are perfect for a laid-back look with your best tights and boots treatment and why not add a little camel to the equation (after all camel is the new black). I found these Joie Robbie shorts on intermixonline.com during one of my daily scouring sessions of my favourite online boutiques. The crinkled leather adds an effortless appeal, paired with a camel sweater and your new aviator jacket ( I would sell my granny for the burberry one) you've nailed casual chic. Last minute date? Swap your sweater for a loose silk blouse , ditch your flat boots and go bare legged with your tallest  ankle booties.

So we are told the hourglass is back, killer curves stalked down the catwalk at Prada, Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs. The style is 1950's, nipped- waists with full skirts and the siren we are channeling is Ms. Monroe.  I've found two skirts which opitimise this trend and couldn't choose, so had to include them both. Zara's brown mid length full skirt is a great workwear piece and is perfect with a crisp white shirt and your best court shoes!

Reiss' Katrin skirt is slightly more badass! It still alludes to that classic feminine silhouette but its rough edges, shorter length and almost wet-look finish channels a less polished wearer than it's Zara counterpart. Shown on the website with a lace top as below, it could also be paired with a simple white t-shirt and a cropped blazer to tone down the sass for daytime!

I LOVE leather trousers! Helmut Lang's leather leggings are pricey but the asymmetrical seam and faux fly add subtle detailing. For daytime team your skinny leathers with a funky embellished jumper such as Beyond Retro's geometric-beaded sweater, add a khaki parka jacket and sheepskin boots (which are everywhere from Topshop to Burberry) for a casual off-duty look.

For night, jump on the brocade band-wagon and go all out in a jacket similar to Matthew Williamson's cropped evening jacket pictured below. Accessorise with a subtle gold watch and complete the look with your highest suede pumps! Brocade a little to much for you? Take it done a notch, brave the winter evenings by cozying up in a cape instead! Capes are the coat style de jour so finding one you love shouldn't be too difficult as they are everywhere. Just in case, I spotted a camel one in COS, a lovely See By Chloe Tweed and Diane Von Furstenburg's Bede Jacket, which all fit the bill.

It's friday night and you have to go out and have nothing to wear! Why not vamp up your faithful LBD by purchasing a leather option. I like Dolce Vita's Connie dress, it's skin tight with a peek of skin at the back but full sleeved so exposes just enough without looking dominatrix/biker chic. Throw on a furry gilet and a pair of peep-toe booties and you are good to go!

My final piece of leather advice comes in the form of Zadig and Voltaire leather cuffs. These genius accessorises add edge to any baggy black sweater and favourite blue jeans combo! Casual cool perfection!
